One of the first Europeans to travel the Libyan desert extensively was Austro-Hungarian adventurer Ladislaus E. Almásy famous again due to Hollywood’s Oscar-awarded movie "The English Patient".
In 1933, Austrian adventurer Ladislaus Almásy discovered rock paintings in the very heart of the Sahara showing a paradisiacal world with rivers, lakes and bathing people. Hence, the world’s largest tropical desert must once have been a lush Garden of Eden. The film follows Almásy’s trail in search for evidence from the most fascinating period of the Sahara’s natural history.
